Page 1 of 15 IntroductionI only have one more night of work at my current job. It was just over a month ago that I found out I was going to be a father. This kind of sparked an "oh crap!" moment in my head. No longer was I able to just lazily go about my normal routines. I had to actually think more about the future. Two major things came to my mind that I had to jump on immediately. First, I needed to make more money. Not to say that I don't make decent money right now. I just knew that I was worth more but I didn't press the issue of a higher salary because of the cushy convenience I was feeling at my current job. The next was benefits. While I did have reasonable health insurance (if you're on a single policy), I had nothing else to show for it. I needed to find a place that could beat my current job in all aspects. I needed better family health insurance, retirement benefits, disability, life insurance, etc. Luckily, I was given an opportunity which I will soon be starting.
AMD was feeling cushy convenience with their Evergreen lineup of video cards. The 5000 series was a very good line. They were the first cards to usher in the era of Direct X 11. They also introduced us to Eyefinity and HDMI 1.3a output. One of the last releases of the 5000 series was January and February of last year. These were the 5450, 5550, 5570, and 5670 versions of the Radeon. AMD is now wrapping up the their latest 6000 series lineup. We've just seen the release of the 6570 and 6670, codename "Turks".
The Sapphire Radeon HD 6670 is one of thoes latest releases. The Radeon HD 6670 looks to take over its predecessor's, the 5670, position in the market. With the 6670, we get an increase in architecture that boosts computing performance. The core clock is set to 800 MHz and the memory 1GHz, 4GHz effective. Onboard memory for the HD 6670 equals 1GB of 128-bit GDDR5. There is an increased SIMD core, giving a total of 480 stream processors and 24 texture units. Similar to the previous generation, there are 32 Z/Stencil ROP units and 8 color ROP units. The 6670 has support for DX11, Eyefinity, and AMD App Acceleration. Sapphire has also paired up with Arctic Cooling to put a special heatsink/fan combination on the 6670 to keep temperatures low.
