Page 1 of 11 IntroductionShhhh! Silence, the complete lack of sound. Silence is the secret to sanity. We commemorate with silence. We look for inner silence when dealing with spirituality and peace. It is both a gesture and a symbol found throughout life. It can be used as a description such as "a strong, silent type". Anyway you look at it, silence is golden.
When dealing with computer components, an increase in power usually equates to an increase in noise production. This noise usually comes in the form of spinning devices such as fans, hard drive platters, and DVD drives. There are many computer builders that look for any components available that can offer good performance with a limited amount of sound. Many news sites include decibel ratings with their component reviews to show how loud we have gotten with computer components. There is a whole line of "silent" computer parts that have made their way into the mainstream.
The Sapphire Radeon HD 5550 Ultimate combines silence with the versatility needed from a mainstream video card. The HD 5550 Ultimate has a passive cooling system that makes it totally silent in operation. The Sapphire HD 5550 Ultimate still retains all of its functionality, such as DX 11, Stream, and Avivo.
