With the advent of USB and SATA 3.0, we have seen quite a few motherboard manufacturers introduce their compatible boards in the last two months. Problem is, it’s hard to find any USB 3.0 compatible peripherals (if any at all) to use with them. Many of you may be thinking to yourselves “nothing new, we usually wait for the peripherals to catch up - 6 or 7 months down the road.” I’m not sure this is going to be the case this time, as I saw a lot of USB 3.0 compatible peripherals at CES and have recently been receiving phone calls asking if I had a USB 3.0 to test some new USB 3.0 peripherals. Vantec was the first and their first USB 3.0 compatible device is a docking station.
The Vantec NexStar Super Speed USB 3.0 Hard Drive Dock will be one of the first USB 3.0 compatible peripherals to seek recognition in this new market. The Vantec NexStar USB 3.0 Hard Drive Dock is a single port docking station that will accommodate both 2.5” and 3.5” hard drives. The Vantec NexStar Super Speed USB 3.0 Hard Drive Dock is in it’s final phases of testing prior to production and Hi Tech Legion has been asked to test it and give its readers a look at its performance, pre-launch.
