Page 1 of 8 IntroductionSelecting the appropriate SDHC card speed class can be confusing for novice users. Officially, the highest class carries a Class 10 rating. Each class number represents 1 MB/s and refers to the least sustained write speed of the SD card in a fragmented state. Although the class system is defined clearly by the Secure Digital Card Association, retail SDHC card ratings are assigned by the manufacturer and not verified by an officiating party. Although the Speed Class rating is limited to 10, there are plenty of SDHC cards available in the market that go beyond that speed rating.
This is not unlike the weight classes in boxing, where the categories below 200lbs are tightly defined but weight differences beyond the Heavyweight class can be widely disparate. A 210lb fighter for example will be in the same weight class as a 320lb boxer, but a 160lb fighter cannot fight a 154lb pugilist. In terms of SD speed rating, as long as a memory card can sustain a minimum write speed of 10MB/s, it is given a Class 10 rating. So the speed rating for professional level SD cards does not exactly help if you are a photographer or videographer looking for faster than 10MB/s transfer rates. This is where independent review websites like HiTechLegion come in handy.
The Patriot LX Pro 32GB SDHC memory card is the latest Class 10 product from Patriot Memory. The Patriot LX Pro 32GB SDHC can deliver transfer rates up to 20MB/s, twice as much as an average Class 10 SDHC memory card. The LX Pro SDHC comes in 16GB or 32GB capacities and complies with SDA 3.0 Class 10 specifications. Priced at an MSRP of $59.99 USD, the Patriot LX Pro 32GB SDHC memory card carries a 5-year warranty and professional level performance for DSLR photographers and HD Videographers.
