Page 1 of 9 IntroductionUSB drives offer unparalleled flexibility when it comes to portable storage. It is small, lightweight, and much more robust than a floppy or mechanical drive since there are no moving parts. The drive’s USB interface allows usage across different systems without requiring drivers to be installed and without needing an external power source. It is a true plug-and-play device, unlike Floppy or Zip drives that required hardware and drivers to be installed so users can store a few kilobytes and megabytes of data. Now we have USB storage options that can store as much as 32GB, 64GB and even 512GB of data in an area the size of a human thumb. The level of speed, convenience and data reliability brought on by the USB drive pushed the Floppy and other re-usable cartridge-type media drives into obsolescence and has kept up with the modern productivity levels of the Internet age.
The portable USB drive is not without a weakness however. Despite having very fast read speeds, USB drives often have very poor and slow write speeds. Transferring data into the drive is often significantly slower and could hamper productivity. This problem has to do with the type of chips used to make the drive. There are technically significantly faster options but the price will exponentially increase. Thankfully, Patriot Memory has found a lower-cost solution that offers significant improvement on the USB drive’s write speeds and implemented it in their latest Xporter XT Rage line of USB drives.
The new Patriot Xporter XT Rage 32GB USB drive uses quad-channel technology to deliver write speeds of up to 25MB/s. The data in the Xporter XT Rage 32GB is distributed simultaneously across four NAND chips, resulting in higher than average read and write speeds, compared to typical USB drives. When not in use, simply retract the USB connector inside the Patriot Xporter XT Rage 32GB USB drive’s body for protection. No more worrying about lost connector caps. Not only can you feel comfortable knowing your data is secure inside the Patriot Xporter XT Rage 32GB USB drive in case of accidental drops or daily abuse, thanks to the drive’s protective rubber coating, you can also feel secure in your investment should problems arise, as the Patriot Xporter XT Rage 32GB USB drive comes with a lifetime warranty.
