Page 1 of 11 Introduction
Portability is king. There is no way around it in this day and age. People want their info and connectivity at their fingertips at all times. The rise of smartphones and netbooks have certainly paved the way for it. Most netbooks are completely capable of running just about every typical task of the notebook and are not any more limited in the amount of data they are capable of handling. Only more CPU intensive tasks are affected (slowed), but media and office tasks run just about the same as they would on your notebook.....only small enough to be easily transported with you just about anywhere.
And smartphones? Many of them are nearly as capable as netbooks. Some even have HDMI adapters to stream video from them to a TV. As far as music, why would I carry a dedicated mp3 player when my phone does just as capable of a job? Office tasks can be a little more of a chore, due to the small screen size, but viewing email and documents is certainly no problem at all. Even creating basic documents is a snap. Plus, you can keep in touch all the way. Where the smartphone and netbook fall way short is on the more intensive tasks, say, editing video or large photos. There are times where nothing but a desktop will do the job effectively. USB Flash Drives certainly solve the data transportation issue. They are small, easy to use and just about universal with their connection, but USB 2.0 can be limiting in working with large files, due to its slower transfer speeds, and can feel sometimes feel unresponsive. So, just in the nick of time, USB 3.0 comes to the rescue.
Patriot has introduced their new Supersonic 64GB USB 3.0 Drive with some very interesting specs. The Patriot Supersonic 64GB Flash Drive is not only USB 3.0 capable, it also boasts Quad Channel Memory for incredibly fast transfer rates of 100MB/s read and 70MB/s write. The Supersonic 64GB Flash Drive is also versatile with USB 2.0 compatibility. Housed in a black aluminum shell, the Patriot Supersonic is rated to withstand shocks up to 15G to protect it from drops and transport mishaps. Still, the Patriot Supersonic is no larger than the average USB Drive, making it just as easily portable.
