Installation of the HDD into the Icy Dock SATA enclosure is fairly simple. The top portion detaches from a latch on the backside that slides at an upward angle. The two pieces disconnect and pull apart. The HDD is inserted into the thick SATA connector on the top half then just slide everything back into the aluminum casing making sure the side and back clips pop into place.
While plugged into the computer the Icy Dock SATA 2.5" enclosure will emit a blue light from the front openings. The led is set into the casing and not flush with the exterior so the light might be a bit hard to see if the room is brightly lit. Also, there is a power indicator on the top portion of the Icy Dock. If you look closely at the second picture you can see it is a yellow LED in the letter "D" of "Icy Dock".
