How smart is your car? Can you play .mp3 or video off of a USB hard drive? I recently found out that mine can. It was not by choice but out of desperation. I thought I forgot my phone while on my way to work (later to find out it was in my bag) and was too far from home to turn back. Always having my laptop with me, I remembered that I had a USB hard drive in my briefcase. I pulled over and got it out, knowing that I had most of my favorite music on it. I was desperate, I had a song in my head and needed to hear it. With fingers crossed, I plugged it into my car's USB port, hit the auxiliary button and in about a minute my files were displayed on my multimedia screen. Bonus!
Well, how about that? A true Smart Car (pun intended) but what makes this story more ironic? The external USB 3.0 Drive I was using is manufactured by ADATA. By now you’re probably saying so what, ADATA makes it. OK, I’ll let you be the judge. The USB 3.0 external 128 GB SSD is named the ADATA DashDrive Elite SE720. Now do you get the irony? It’s a DashDrive, plug it into your car and place it on your dash then put the car in drive and pull away.
The ADATA DashDrive Elite SE720 is an external USB 3.0 SSD with read/write speeds of 400/300MB/sec. The DashDrive Elite SE720 weighs 3.9 oz. due to its ultra-thin design and light weight stainless steel encasement. It utilizes a SandForce SF-2281VB2-SPC controller and an Intel/Micron MLC NAND, the same used in ADATA's popular internal SX900 series SSDs. Accessories included with the DashDrive Elite SE720 are a 12" USB 3.0 cable, Quick Start Guide and a pouch to store the drive. The DashDrive comes with a 3 year warranty and, by visiting the ADATA support site, you are able to download valuable software further enhance its flexibility.
