Introduction

The beginning of a new year usually means that it’s time for the launch of a lot of new computer products, and where better to showcase those new products? CES. This year is no different than others, as many manufacturers will be showing their latest and greatest, as well as a roadmap for what we can expect in the coming year. Many of us are usually sitting at our computers or TVs trying to catch some CES coverage so we can drool over what we may be interested in purchasing in the upcoming months.

Intel Core i5 661 Clarkdale

This year, Intel, who is no stranger to launching new and innovative products, is giving us an early gift with the launch of their new line of processors. These processors will encompass both desktop and mobile platforms. The desktop processors will be part of the Core i5 and the newly announced Core i3 series. Codenamed Clarkdale and built around the LGA 1156 socket, these processors are dual core and also include a GPU, yes, a Graphics Processing Unit, on the same die. We've heard rumors of integrating both CPU and GPU on the same chip for quite some time and, until now, it may have seemed to be hype. This is no longer the case as Intel has made the hype a reality.

Intel DH55 Motherboard

Along with the launch of the new Core i5 and Core i3 Dual core processors are three new motherboards for the LGA 1156 socket. They will be the H55, H57 and Q57 chipsets. This new platform should provide powerful processing, as well as a vibrant HD video experience.
