However, the study points out that far more people are afraid of flying than of driving, even though the death risk in driving is far higher, or that people fear Mad Cow disease far more than food-borne pathogens from their own kitchen, regardless that the risk from their own kitchen is far greater. Why? Well, because we control our cars and kitchens and have a sense of security from this control.
