Customizing your system can be fun, but let’s face it, not everyone has the time to dedicate for personalization. Looking at the price of various LED kits, it also seems that the cost of the project could easily pile up, especially for users who want variety. A single color LED strip can cost between $12 to $20 and a multi-color LED strip costs around $40 to $50. Considering that the NZXT Hue does not have direct competition from a major manufacturer, it is surprising to see the price at a reasonable $33. Although, at the time of writing this review, I could only find one store online that sells the NZXT Hue and it happens to be in Australia. In the next few weeks it should eventually show up on NZXT’s online store and other popular retailers like Amazon and NewEgg.
Unlike other LED kits, including NZXT’s own sleeved LED units, the NZXT Hue uses a 5.25” front panel controller. Much like NZXT’s LED lighting kits, the NZXT Hue is easily installed and blends perfectly and seamlessly inside any case without posing any cable management issues. The rotary knob design usually presents a problem for cases that have doors like the NZXT Phantom 410 but thankfully, NZXT has an eye for detail and designed the NZXT Hue’s knobs to be lower profile, yet accessible, so the case doors can be closed when not in use.
Overall, the NZXT Hue LED RGB Controller is a simple device that can easily add life to your home PC. Even those with very little experience in case customization will feel like a pro once the Hue LED RGB kit has been installed inside a chassis, especially one with a viewing window.
