We all chuckle when some brings up the subject of Military Class. But why? I feel it’s more of what the media has portrayed over the last 50 years. We are always watching and hearing news that some type of military class product failed. So of course since we are not familiar with hearing about any accomplishments our opinions are biased based on what the media has instilled upon us. I am a WWII fanatic and when I am not testing a new piece of hardware my focus usually turns to either the Military History (MHC) or Military Channel (MC). One of the shows on the MHC is called Tactical to Practical, where they show technologies that were developed for the military and are now being used in the civilian world. That GPS you wouldn’t get into your car without was developed for military purposes. Are you complaining about that? From now on when you hear Military Class maybe you should think about that GPS first before you begin to take a biased opinion.

 MSI Z77A-GD55 Motherboard and Box

MSI (Micro-Star International) introduced a Military Class motherboard about two and a half to three years ago. I hate to say it but it did cause a chuckle in the enthusiast computing community. Problem is they were the first to advertise Military Class and sometimes being the first to outwardly admit to something that is cringed upon by a community can be the source of some, “what were they thinking”. With the launch of the new Intel LGA socket 1155 3rd Generation Core Processors (“Ivy Bridge”) MSI is launching a new line of motherboards that house the Intel Z77 chipset. These motherboards hold the denomination of being the third generation of MSI Military Class Motherboards (Class III). MSI has further increased the reliability of their design with the new design they include a Certification with all Military Class Motherboards. The MSI Z77A-GD55 Series 7 Intel based motherboard falls into that realm.
