Ever wondered if there is a system in place at all in naming hurricanes and storms? Initially, all the designated names were of women until around 1979. Now male names are in the mix, alternating alphabetically, until the season is over. The names are cycled every six years and significantly devastating hurricanes are taken off the list completely. For the most part, these are just casual names that are more fitting of an accountant than an unstoppable force of nature. If we name hurricanes from Heavy Metal band titles, it would be much more fittingly descriptive and accurately aggressive.

Since the PC hardware and gaming community is mostly a male-dominated market, aggressive-sounding naming schemes are quite common. Unlike with hurricane names, almost every piece of hardware aimed at gamers seem to be very testosterone-driven and made to intimidate. While some are just aggressive by name, there are those that are also well-known to be aggressive performers. Corsair, for example, named their top-of-the-line memory module kit the “Dominator”. Although an excellent memory kit for high-performance PCs, the Dominator line is also quite expensive and out of reach for the more budget conscious enthusiasts. With the introduction of the “Vengeance” line of memory kits, Corsair aims to deliver an aggressive performing alternative to the Dominator that is also competitively priced.

The Corsair Vengeance 4x4GB 1600MHz DDR3 memory modules are designed for Quad Channel use in the latest Intel X79 platform.
