Page 1 of 7 IntroductionAs a reviewer, I'm constantly writing all kinds of documents, whether it be in Word or Excel or some other type of word processing software. Unfortunately, to make things even tougher, if you work from home and you're a gamer, a typical keyboard isn't going to work as well as a keyboard designed for gamers. As I'm sure most of you have your hang ups when it comes to peripherals, like myself, there are certain requirements that these ubiquitous devices need to fill. For me, having to listen to the incessant clicking sounds of a keyboard is an absolute abysmal way to make any kind of living. When I look at a keyboard, one of the most important features is that there is no loud clicking of the keys when I type. I'm not looking for total utter silence, simply because I like to have a game now and again and I want the added features of a gaming keyboard. If you're not a gamer, then that makes the options a whole lot simpler, you don't need to worry about all the added extra functionality.
Then there are other things you need to look at, like the key stroke - do you like long strokes or shorter ones (get your minds out of the gutter)? How about key profiles - do you prefer shorter keys or does the height of the key even matter? When I'm writing, or even gaming, I prefer to have short keys strokes and low profile keys, so that I don't have to be so aware of how far I have to raise or lower my fingers to depress a key. Roccat makes some very good devices, like keyboards, mice, and headsets, and, to be honest, it's these devices that are primarily overlooked or taken for granted.
Roccat's ISKU is a keyboard designed for gamers. The ISKU has all the features that any gamer would ever want, like backlit keys with six different luminosity settings, 180 macro functions across multiple profiles, and a plethora of other features. The ISKU from Roccat also comes with a full featured software package that makes creating profiles and macros a breeze. The software is what makes switching between profiles and macro layers possible for that quick intuitive in-game fragging session. The ISKU can also be used for any multi-media purposes, as it supports the play, pause, fast forward, rewind, and volume controls, all built within a few keys.
