Unlike other animals, mankind is unique in that we have controlled the pace of our evolution through the use of tools. While we have done very well in improving our quality of life and effectively doubling the average human lifespan compared to a hundred years ago, these biological vessels we call bodies can only do so much. Age and decay is inevitable and looking towards solutions which involve intimate integration with machines is an uncomfortable thought for most of us. Nonetheless, this is a reality that we will soon face as advancements in biotechnology are rapidly making science-fiction into science-facts.

Advanced prosthetics today grant vision to those who are blind and motion to those who have lost limbs. Soon these prosthetics will be interfaced neurally and will grant true synchronized movements with the host body as if they were born with it. The only real roadblock to this progress is a society that questions the issue of human identity and if augmentation takes a piece away of what it means to be human. This is the main theme explored in the original Deus Ex game and now revisited with the prequel, Deus Ex: Human Revolution.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution is the 3rd installment to the critically acclaimed title which launched in June 2000. Set in the year 2027, Deus Ex Human Revolution follows the story of Adam Jensen, a security specialist looking to uncover the truth behind the ambush that changed his life forever. Knowledge of previous installments is not necessary for appreciation of Deus Ex: Human Revolution since it is essentially a prequel and provides the background framework to the world we have witnessed in the first Deus Ex title and its sequel, Deus Ex: Invisible War. With DirectX 11 technology and a modified CrystalDynamics Crystal Engine, the cyberpunk world in Deus Ex Human Revolution comes to life and delivers engrossing immersion that complements the intriguing narrative.
