Page 1 of 6 IntroductionEver since cable television expanded to seemingly limitless channels, these stations have been looking for something.....many times anything, to fill their late night time slots that will get them at least some income. With cheap airtime available to a wide audience, the simple 30 or 60 second commercial spawned into full length, late night infomercials. Entire 15, 30 or even 60 minute segments extolling the virtues of some of the most outlandish products in the world. Just turn on your tv at 3:00am, and you are privy to a full educational show on such intriguing items as rubber bakeware and automatic toothpaste dispensers. As a popular comedian once intimated on his show, when you are delirious from insomnia, a knife that can cut through a shoe sounds like a pretty good idea. There is even a website devoted to all of the products hawked on infomercials. Just take a quick scan through, and there are quite a few that will make you wonder what possible practical use they could have. And strangely (or not), I get this same feeling every time I walk down an aisle in a store lined with notebook accessories. Some far too large to be conveniently portable, some far too small to be useful. There is one particular item that has always left me wondering as to it's practical application. Imagine my surprise when I was sent a package with items to be tested and reviewed, and it was included.
The Antec Notebook Cooler To Go is a simple piece based on a pretty simple concept. The Antec Notebook Cooler To Go helps bring cool air to the air intake of your notebook, to aid it in running cooler. What could be more obvious and straightforward? The unit is a wedge design housing two fans. It is made so that the edge of the notebook is rested on top of the wedge, with the fan exhaust blowing cool air under the unit where the air intakes are located. Rubber pads on the resting point of the unit keep the notebook from easily slipping.
