CoolIt ECO ALC CPU Cooler Review

Article Index

So summer is upon us and the weather is heating up. In a lot of the world, the heat goes beyond pleasant and into the realm of uncomfortable. But there are always ways to try to beat the heat. Many go with the tried and true A/C, some like a shady spot in the park, but for many nothing beats a dip in the pool to cool off.

Many liquids are excellent absorbers of heat, drawing the heat away from anything they come into contact with. However, most liquids don't hold heat very well and cool off very quickly. So when you jump in that pool, the water is actually drawing heat away from your body to cool you in addition to the simple matter of surrounding you in a cooler substance. Simple and effective cooling for you, but throwing your CPU in a pool....well, let's just say that electronics and water don't mix very well. However, drawing cool liquid through a heatsink attached to the CPU is a very viable and very effective solution. The cooled liquid draws the heat from the heatsink, then runs through it's own cooler, returning to the heatsink cooled for an effective cycle.

The CoolIt ECO A.L.C. brings many of the advantages of liquid cooling to the mainstream user without breaking the bank at a mere $69.99. The CoolIt ECO is a solid CPU cooling solution and allows the user to unclutter the case to increase airflow, all while remaining self contained and very easy to install. The two major foreboding aspects of liquid cooling, price and complicated install and maintenance, are not a worry with the CoolIt ECO. The CoolIt ECO is comprised of two main components, a pump with the contact block and a 120mm fan/radiator assembly. The pump is as easy to install as any air cooler, needing only four thumbscrews to secure it in place. The fan/radiator assembly installs in exactly the same manner as a standard case fan.
