Page 1 of 7 IntroductionThe saying goes, “if you can’t stand the heat then get out of the kitchen.” Well the same goes for the CPU cooler, except the cooler needs to get out of the case. It seems that all too many times, the cooler ends up needing to be ditched or upgraded from the stock, or slightly above stock, models that grace the insides of our computer cases. With this need for upgrades comes wave after wave of various types of heatsinks and fan arrangements, all hoping to cool a little bit better than the other one. With so many different choices and options, it leaves many not knowing what to choose. The answers to this come in several forms. One is what CPU configurations are supported. Another is will it fit my case. One of the more important ones is how well does it cool. Well, each cooler will provide you with different answers and will fit different needs. A great example of answering a lot of the questions for a CPU cooler is from the company, XigmaTek.
The XigmaTek S1283 is a great choice for any system build. The XigmaTek S1283 is a vertical stacked aluminum heatsink with direct touch heat pipes. The AMD AM2/AM3 and Intel LGA 775 sockets are the two supported configurations allowing for use in either an Intel or AMD based system.
