Introduction

Among all the components comprising a modern personal computer, heatsinks are the most deceptively simple. The working parts of heatsinks are usually made up of a copper or nickel plated copper base with heatpipes extending to several aluminum fins and actively cooled by a fan or two.  All the heatsinks available on the market only vary slightly from one another by the different placements and size of these parts.  A layperson, from simply looking at a heatsink, might come to the conclusion that all of them perform essentially the same. Of course, most computer enthusiasts know this is simply not the case.

Heat shortens the lifespan of your components and, often times, the thermal solution provided stock by the video card manufacturers isn't adequate, if you are to push your GPU's performance above spec.  Looking at aftermarket solutions isn't easy as there are a plethora of VGA cooling solutions available.  A good start would be to look for products which are made by a company that specializes and has extensive experience in this field.  Zalman, with over 10 years experience in aftermarket cooling solutions, has a solution for almost any thermal problem.

The Zalman VF3000N is a VGA heatsink specifically made for Nvidia's GTX200 series GPUs. Five 6mm thick copper heatpipes transfer heat from the pure copper base into the Zalman VF3000N's aluminum fins, while twin 92mm fans provide active cooling, while also blowing air to the PCB components below.  With the Zalman VF3000N, high temperatures produced by overclocking your GPU is not a problem.
