The Noctua NH-U9B-SE2 Heatsink comes in a glossy 14.5cm x 16cm x 17.5cm box that has plenty of information printed on it. The front of the box has a small transparent plastic window where you can see a Noctua NF-B9 fan and the Noctua U9B-SE2 heatsink behind it. The rear of the box describes the main features of the U9B-SE2 and a diagram explaining the effectiveness of NF-B9's notch design in eliminating noise. On the left side of the box, you can find the description of the U9B-SE2 found in the back of the box translated into 6 languages: German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian and Japanese. Below that lists a sampling of 27 awards out of the hundreds that the NH-U series of Coolers have received since their launch. The right side of the box prints a few excerpts from some of these reviews specifically talking about the NH-U9B CPU Cooler and below that has a diagram listing the dimensions of the heatsink as well as the accessories included in the package.
The top of the box lists the heatsink and fan specifications and opens by sliding out the cardboard lock. There are two boxes inside and one is 55% larger than the other. The larger box contains the heatsink itself and the NF-B9 fan we can see from the front window. The smaller box contains the 2nd NF-B9 fan and the accessories.
The Noctua U9B-SE2 is made of nickel plated copper base/heat pipe and aluminum fins, standing tall at only 12mm making it about as tall as a CD Jewel case. The top most aluminum fin has the Noctua logo stamped on it and the tips of the four heat pipes protruding through. While the aluminum fins are open faced on the wider face the sides have a section in the middle where the fins are bent down which helps the Noctua U9B's structural stability and airflow. There are also grooves on the side where the fan clips slip into. The bottom of the base is shiny but not smooth.
