Page 1 of 6 IntroductionAs HTPCs grow in popularity, the demand for small compact cases to house them in has grown exponentially. Everyone wants an HTPC that’s small and will fit nicely in their home entertainment centers. Case manufacturers have answered the call and begun producing cases that look nothing like a traditional computer, and fit into tight quarters in just about anyone’s entertainment system. The trade off with this is the need for the internal components to be small and compact as well, in order to fit into the cramped interiors of these compact HTPC cases.
Traditionally speaking, one of the larger of the components required for system operation has been the CPU fan and heatsink assembly. In order to optimize the performance of the CPU, the temperature must be kept as cool as possible, which usually requires a somewhat elaborate design incorporating the heatsink and fan. The current lack of interior space of HTPC cases has left a need for an efficient design that is low in profile, yet still offers good cooling performance.
The Thermaltake MeOrb CPU cooler is a compact, low profile cooler for compact system builds. The Thermaltake MeOrb features a horizontal heatsink with 90mm fan for good cooling and compact design. The MeOrb is designed to meet the growing need for compact CPU coolers for use in HTPC cases that do not provide much in the way of interior installation space.
