The Zalman ZM-SF3 120mm Case Fan came in a molded plastic case attached to a cardboard backing for display on a hanging rack. The details of the shark fin design in a bone colored white are reminiscent of a great white and gives a nice view of what sets it apart from the familiar look of a fan. The back of the packaging includes a list of the features, as well as illustrated explanations of the technology behind the construction of the ZM-SF3.
The Zalman ZM-SF3 is a white plastic fan with black rubber accents that provide padding when installed. The shark fin design is engineered in such a way to reduce turbulence caused by fan rotation, in order to facilitate a smoother flow of both the fan and airflow.
Looking closer at the unique shark fin design, the outer edge of each blade has a protruding fin from the edge to the back of the blade. Shorter fins run parallel along the back edge of the blade to shape the flow of air flowing through the fan.
The wire is covered in a braided sheath and is flat enough to tuck away on a build. The connection is a 3 pin design and also includes a resistor cable. Anti-vibration silicone pins are included to attach the ZM-SF3 to the case and cut out any noise that would be caused by the fan vibrating against the case.
