When I first started gaming, I was never really been a big fan of playing online. I much preferred to play in an off line mode and run through a campaign. The reason for this, in most part, is simply because when you are playing in a campaign, you have more control, at least in my opinion, of what is happening in the game. There is a certain amount of predictability to games, depending on the situation and other factors, like the music or ambient sounds. It's these sounds that can add some edge to the mood of what you are doing. I find when I play online that predictability is all but removed, leaving me feeling even more on edge than what was really required, and that took away most of the fun that I could have been having. Obviously, if you're in a game like BF3, you know what the other team is going to be trying to do, like capture the flag, but there is no real warning of the events that will occur. My biggest issue has always seemed to be hearing anyone sneaking up on me for that easy kill. That is extraordinarily frustrating and embarrassing.

When it comes to gaming, there are many different attributes that will help you get pulled into the game. Graphics is a huge part of that, as are the ambient sounds, like footsteps or bullets whizzing by your head. I found that a good set of headphones, compared to my desktop speakers, really helped bring back some of the control that I had lost playing online. My personal experiences with headsets, I have to admit, is limited. I have only owned a total of three pairs. I have used a stereo set, which worked just okay, a 5.1 surround sound set, which worked extra-ordinarily well but were fairly heavy and could only been warn for short periods, and a 5.1 surround set from Roccat.

The ROCCAT Kave 5.1 surround headphones have all the features that anyone should need. The Kave 5.1 surround gaming headset, from ROCCAT, has a removable microphone that rotates 360°, three speakers in each cup, for true 3D surround sound, as well as an adjustable bass speaker that vibrates for some extra added immersive gaming. ROCCAT's Kave 5.1 speakers operate on a frequency from 20~20,000Hz and are 40mm in size. The vibrating driver units operate from 20~100Hz and are only 30mm in size. ROCCAT's removable mic has sound canceling features, runs from 20~18000Hz and is omni-directional.
