Page 1 of 3 IntroductionHow do you judge a case for an iPhone when you have a monumental selection to choose from? I have personally used close to twenty different cases over the years that I have been using iPhones. Each and every case offers its own take on style, functionality and protection, which gives a lot to look at when considering which case is right for you. Should I be looking for a case that isn’t great to look at but offers excellent protection? Should I get a case that adds to the phones functionality, but at the cost of protection? Should I just buy a case that looks awesome? In many cases, the answer varies drastically from person to person. What does seem to be the same is that no matter what direction you lean toward in case selection, there will be tradeoffs between style, functionality, and protection. This begs the question, can there be a firm compromise between the three so that you can have a nice balance from all three. The answer may have come with a yes from the new Commuter series cases from Otterbox.
The Otterbox Commuter is a hybrid iPhone case, featuring both soft and hard parts to the case. The Otterbox Commuter features a black rubber sleeve that is wrapped in a black, hard outer shell. The combination of the hard outer shell with the rubber sleeve gives a case that helps prevent slips and falls, but protects should the inevitable happen.
