More Than 40 Million Devices Worldwide Now Shipping With Syncing and Streaming Technologies Powered by Nero
“As more and more consumers have smart devices, they want to unchain the digital media from their PCs and access and use it wherever they are, on whatever device they have at the time,” said Nero Chief Executive Officer Juergen Kurz. “With iCloud and iLife, Apple has done an excellent job creating this experience for consumers who are entirely within its device eco-system. Working with our OEM partners and applying more than 15 years of experience transcoding and moving media, Nero is now delivering this same type of iCloud and iLife experience to everyone else who uses the Windows and Android platforms.” The Nero Kwik Media platform consists of a PC application, Android app and web browser interface all glued together through a media cache in the cloud. Nero’s approach automatically finds the most efficient path to share content bi-directionally between devices, whether through a WiFi or 3G/4G connection or through the cloud, when needed. Nero’s proprietary transcoding technologies automatically optimize the media for each device in real time. This allows a high-definition video, for instance, to be converted into an accepted file format, correct screen resolution and optimal file size to be watched on a smart phone without the user having to do anything. The Nero Kwik Media platform also provides consumers easy ways to manage and use their content. iTunes playlists can be easily transferred from a PC to a smart phone. Photos can be modified and turned into slideshows, complete with animated transitions and audio soundtracks, in a matter of clicks. Favorite photos and videos can be streamed to a TV from a PC or mobile device. User-generated photos and videos can be shared on the most popular online social networks or burned to disc for archival purposes. Digital videos, DVDs and Blu-ray discs can be played on PCs with the appropriate hardware without having to open separate media players.
