Page 1 of 8 IntroductionMany of us have been waiting for video game developers to produce games with more realistic graphics. A couple years ago, NVIDIA purchased a company called Ageia which, at the time, was producing a stand alone card made to render more realistic graphics using an engine called Physx. Graphics physics were introduced into video games to produce more realistic explosions that cause collateral damage, glass that breaks and actually shatters like glass would and, of course, more realistic smoke, fog, destructible buildings and lifelike characters.
This past April, NVIDIA announced that as well as developing new APEX modules, such as Turbulence, Destruction, Vegetation and Clothing (Multi-Platform scalable dynamics platform), they have also made agreements with many game developers to produce video games which include the PhysX Apex modules.
One such Game developer, 8monkey Labs, is in their final phase of development and, in lieu of the September 8, 2009 release, has given Hi Tech Legion the opportunity to preview their game which uses the above Apex modules. The game is called Darkest of Days. |
