The Windows 8 release date is almost here and people have been wondering if their current systems support the OS upgrade. ASUS has been working on their CAP UEFI builds for the X79 and Z77 series motherboards for full Windows 8 support at the time of release.
The CAP format improves boot-up and POST speeds in both Windows 7 and 8. It also provides specialized controller initialization options. Enhancements in security to prevent UEFI infection are also in place. The latest CAP UEFI updates most importantly, provides superior stability, performance and overall interoperability in the Windows 8 operating system environment.
Please note that some users may need a microcode update requiring an extended flashing process. Some motherboards require a specific UEFI ROM to be present prior to moving to the new CAP format. More information and details will be available soon prior to the Windows 8 October launch date.
