Lepa 120mm Vortex/Casino/Chopper Fan

The Lepa Vortex 120mm fan, Casino 120mm fan, and Chopper 120mm fan are designed to maximize cooling while maintaining silent operation. The Vortex is designed without LED lighting for those who want a simple fan. The Casino 120mm fan has 18 blue LEDs installed in it creating a spiral lighting effect with various modes including the ability to turn off the LEDs. The Chopper is a low speed fixed RPM fan that has 2 LEDs (in blue or red depending on model) to create a dynamic cycling lighting effect. The Vortex and Casino both include PWM fan speed control and a vortex frame design. The vortex frame design on the Casino and Vortex fans creates a cyclonic effect with the airflow. This effect creates a focused stream of air and can be used to target hot spots such as the GPU in a computer system. The Chopper has a 3-pin connector and includes rubber mounting screws to reduce noise. All three of these fans include adapters to convert from 3-pin and 4-pin connectors to a 4-pin Molex power connector.

Nice review ! Not all that sure but maybe the 120mm fans that I have in the NZXT Phantom chassis are the same ones as the NZXT Switch, anyhow sure looks like these Lepa fans would actually move more focused air and a would be a lot quieter.Too bad there is no way to turn off the LEDs with the Chopper.Still $12 seems a reasonable price and the direct airflow might be a pretty good choice over some brands stock fans for heatsinks or radiators.
Thanks

The Vortex fans are not meant for heatsinks and/or radiators, though you would think they were due to the air concentration. They actually choke on heatsinks due to very low static pressure. They are absolutely strictly case fans and are marketed and sold as such. Wade actually gave them a test run just to prove it, and the results were not good. Vortex type fans are made specifically for sending concentrated air to a specific location in an open case.

Well that surely answers that they are strictly case fans and much appreciated for the extra testing.
Thanks :)

Thanks for your review Wade, because of it I picked myself up one of those chopper fans to use as a front intake in my Rosewill Redbone I won here for the Christmas giveaways.

Well I for one am disappointed in Lepa and will not buy from them again. The LED effect of the chopper really does look great but after a couple weeks the LED turned off after it was on for a few minutes and eventually wouldn't come on at all. So I talked with Ecomaster support set up an RMA and it was delivered to them on 10/26 and waited until 11/16 to check the status of my RMA. On 11/30 they finally got back to me and said "It seems that the replacement we sent out was rejected and sent back to us. We will send it out again today." Today I received the fan and surprise it's the same fan I sent in to them, no working LEDs at all. I'm not going to even bother talking to support again because the $7 to ship it back to them again is definitely not worth it since it was a $12 fan.

Ugh...awful customer service experience. Sorry to hear that. I haven't had to deal with them (then again, I don't own any of their products), but I would not be happy with that.

What a bummer to hear about that ugt., what the heck is that for customer service anyways? what they do? take a guess and send the fan back to ya thinking that you would not bother to spend the money to ship it back. Sure as heck sounds like that.Could have also been an honest error too, still lousy customer service over a fan no less.

I am sorry to hear that :(
What sucks is the LEDs are probably fine and it is probably just a short in the wire.
One thing you can try is calling them back up and tell them how disappointed you are with the product your received and the customer service experience.

Who knows you probably can get them to pay for the shipping back if nothing else. Sometimes you need to be firm with customer service departments, and usually they will make it right because that means they lose quite a few customers when these types of experiences get shared.
