Motherboard reviews

The frame or backbone of any system is a Motherboard. Lets talk about keeping that framework in perfect shape.

Motherboard reviews

Funny thing happened on the way to the forum.
I have been thinking about motherboard reviews and how almost everyone reviews the processor and not so much the motherboard.

So what do the members think, how should a motherboard be tested?
It's not hard what would you like to see?

For motherboard reviews I like to know about the layout quirks, the stability of the system during testing, what overclocking options are available and how it compares to other boards in its class. In the reviews I've seen where they test 5 boards all with the same chipset you see little to no difference in CPU performance but different controllers could have different speeds although probably not something you could tell outside of benchmarks.

Our new motherboard reviews will focus on features, board layout connectivity and very little cpu performance. We will link to the processor review that was tested on the board but there will be limited system benchmarks.

We will be testing lan connectivity, USB 3.0 , SATA - onboard and eSATA layout and function of the board (mostly subjective) as per system we will use AIDA and PC Mark 7, Multithreaded apps will be Winrar and cinebench, video we will use Media show. Then of course the videos etc.
We will also look at fan headers and controls.
