Talk about hardware in general, building a new rig or need to ask an unspecific question.

You can certainly save a lot of money doing the build yourself. I would definitely suggest the Sandy-Bride E system (X79 chipset). The 3820 or 3930K scream speed and you won't have any issues with processing power for several years.

Since you have a 3K budget have you considered a boutique system builder such as Maingear(Go here http://www.maingear.com/boutique/pc/viewconfig.asp and use code FJEMG) or Digital Storm (See http://www.digitalstormonline.com/compl ... ?id=676382).

Are the headphones I listed nicely compatible with the soundcard? I wan't 7.1 surround and listen to music that is at mid range.

The onboard audio on most modern motherboards is very good but if you're looking for audiophile quality sound you may want to look at a dedicated sound card.

updated the list. switched to sabertooth z77 motherboard, can’t choose between the two headsets so if any audiophiles could voice their opinions that would be great and i am still planning on downgrading to a 120gb ssd instead but don’t know if i should go with the lower iOPS. I chose the creative card over asus ones as most gamers have mentioned better clarity for gaming and movies, for music asus ones are better certainly but i’m not that big on music. which GPU 670/80 do you guys recommend since i won’t be hardcore OCing

Where is your list? Sabertooth Z77 is a great choice and I think you would be happy with a single GTX 670.

Why not chose a 7.1 gaming headset with mic though? Corsair has some nice ones.

Corsair certainly makes some nice headsets as Slug mentioned. I am really enjoying the ASUS 670 that I purchased it is only a duel slot card and has some nice heatpipes on it to help keep the card nice a cool during a heavy gaming session.
