Google has announced that is had acquired the social media management platform Wildfire Interactive for an undisclosed amount of money. Previously it was once rumored that Facebook was interested in buying Wildfire

Wildfire was launched 4 years ago by Victoria Ransom and Alain Chuard, and was funded in part by Facebook, Since then the team has built a service to help businesses like Virgin, Cirque du Soleil, Gilt Group and Spotify manage their social efforts across numerous social websites. The platform is designed to help brands manage their web-pages, apps, tweets, advertising. promotions, sponsorships and more, all in one place.

"In a complex and changing landscape, businesses want to manage and measure these efforts in an integrated way."
In a Google blog post, Jason Miller mentions that Wildfire could be integrated to a suite of web and ad management tools, including Google Analytics, Admeld, and DoubleClick, which enable clients to run and measure ads across the social websites.

Having fresher content and a more positive interaction, can easily enrich the online experience for both people and businesses alike.
