Thermaltake Water2.0 Performer and Pro CPU Coolers

P.T. Barnum is often credited with uttering the phrase “there’s a sucker born every minute”. Given Barnum’s stock and trade in circus sideshows, it might seem fitting. However, those closest to the situation, and to Barnum himself, disputed this claim. They admitted that he was part of the subject matter of the conversation, and the cause of the statement to be made, but not the one to say it. I would gather that the fact that Barnum was the famous one involved led people to believe this, word of mouth got it around and became taken as a truth. Would kind of figure, after all, there is a sucker born every minute…..

Yeah, I was hoping for a little better, but you can only expect so much from these Asetek units. Tt probably did the best overall package, and performance is as good as or better than any of the other incarnations. The assumption of better performance is their biggest marketing tool.

If they only give for users a little reservoir with discrete LEDs it would be really nice ;)

I still don't understand why these self contained units are so popular. For the price you can pick up one of the best air coolers on the market and have better temps and a quieter system (and no chances of leaks).

I've only used one water cooling kit (CoolIt ECO ALC) and didn't find it much better than your average mid range air cooler.

You and I both.

I think a part of it comes down to that any user can have watercooling with no fuss when compared to setting up and maintaining a real watercooling setup.

Also think that the cost of a self contained system compared to a full blown H2O setup has a lot to do with along with assurance that taller heatsinks will be compatible.
Still no assurance of any cooling provided at all without a heatsink, should the pump fail at any time.

It's ePeen...it's a buzzword...it's horribly skewed results from a few sites sucking up to mfg...

Facts don't matter. The Kool Aid Krew are as bad as iSheep. Bringing facts and test results into the conversation only makes them whine "but it's waaaaaaaaaateeeeerrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!!" more loudly and draw out the word "water" longer. Asetek is the Jim Jones of the tech world.

I spent two solid days looking for a configuration that the ALC would outperform the OCZ Vendetta 2 I picked up for $29. It never did......

The new units are better, but the best of them still perform on par with air coolers costing half as much. At least Tt got the noise level down quite a bit.

Enclosed loop water systems are here to stay, you can all say what you please, those humongous air coolers are going the same way as the spinner hdd drives. Down the tubes. Asetek units are some of the best units on the market, they easily compare to Corsair, but Corsair has much better customer support if you have a problem. So did Asetek, but your dealing Thermaltake now and I never dealt with their customer support so I cannot speak about them. You couldnt give me an air cooler, I agree the DIY water systems are better but you cant have a good one for 100.00 like you can with an enclosed loop.
